At the End of the Day
Well, the holiday weekend is over and I hope everyone had a great weekend. I thought it was only fitting to capture the last sunset of the holiday along the La Jolla shoreline.

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone! I woke up early this morning and decided to take a trip up to Pacific Beach. Since it’s a holiday weekend I wasn’t sure if I’d even be able to get close, but I thought I’d take a chance.
The fog was hanging on when I arrived at the beach, but folks were out enjoying the morning and providing me with a great show. People were taking their dogs for a swim, locals were out along the esplanade, kids and adults were on their bikes, guys were showing off their tattoos, surfers were hitting’ the waves while others waited for in line for their breakfast burritos.
All and all, it was a fun morning at the beach. Enjoy!
It’s Sunday night and I was just reviewing some of my photos from the past week and I thought I’d (once again) share. Enjoy!
It rained most of today, but the clouds parted in the late afternoon so I decided to take a quick drive downtown. When I got down to the waterfront the sun was beginning to set and the reflection of the sky was beautiful in these buildings at the marina. Enjoy!
It was a very interesting evening tonight in Ocean Beach. Dan and I had a burger at one of the local places and then headed down to the beach. The tide was very high, the winds were blowing off the water—making it very choppy, the waves were crashing on the beach, the clouds were unusual and there was a full moon. All and all… a very fun night to be out. Enjoy!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve never heard of a Dollarbird (Eurystomus orientalis). I think they’re from the China and Japan area of the world. Anyway, I visited the zoo and found this little guy in the Owens Aviary. I also found a parrot couple, some baby mallards and an unknown species
Enjoy!
A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by the folks at National Geographic Magazine regarding an image I had submitted to their reader photo contest—called Your Shot. Well, the image never made it into the magazine (darn), but they asked if I would submit it to their stock photography site. So… of course I did and they accepted the image. I know this isn’t exactly the cover of the magazine that I was hoping for, but it’s still pretty exciting to me. Who knows of the image will ever sell… I’m just excited to see it on their site. Here’s a screenshot of the NGStock web page.
This is Princess—a female cheetah. She lives at the San Diego Zoo with her best friend, Molly, a white (lab-mix?) dog. Molly was busy chasing a tennis ball so I didn’t get a good shot of the two of them together. But Princess was kind enough to “pose” for my camera.
After some pretty warm weather things are finally returning to normal. What is “normal” weather anymore? Anyway, Dan and I drove out to Pacific Beach yesterday to capture the sunset and some “slow water.” I really enjoy taking photos of Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach and here are a couple I’d like to share. Enjoy!
I met Dan and Andrew tonight for dinner. After dinner, Dan and I drove downtown to the Horton Plaza. It’s a pretty cool shopping mall in the heart of downtown San Diego. We waited until the lights went on before setting up our tripods. We got a few photos and then the security guards showed up. Who knew you couldn’t take photos after 5:00 pm? Evidently, you have to request special permission before photographing at night… bummer. Anyway, here’s what I was able to steal before we got busted. Enjoy!
