San Diego Scottish Games – Part II

I’m still going through my event photos. In the meantime, here are some photos from the athletic events at the San Diego Scottish Games. I’m sorry to say that I missed the caber toss event. And they put the hammer throwing guys in a netted cage so photos were a bit difficult, but hey… there’s always next year :-) Maybe I’ll see if I can get a press pass next year. Enjoy the photos!

30th Annual San Diego Scottish Highland Games – Part 1

Today my friends, Dan and Vivian, joined me for the Scottish Games in Vista. I had never attended one of these events before and I have to tell you… it was fantastic! There were athletic events, music, dancing, dogs herding sheep and of course, bag pipes. I shot over 700 photos, but I wanted to get a few of my favorites posted while I go through the other photos and videos.

If you’re in the Idyllwild area this Monday be sure to catch the University of Riverside Highlander Pipe Band. They’ll be marching in the annual 4th of July parade and they’re outstanding. The performed at today’s event and they’re online at www.pipeband.ucr.edu if you want to find out their performance schedule.

Also, Dan will be posting hist photos from the event so be sure to visit his photo blog at www.sandandiego.com.

Enjoy the photos!

Coronado Bridge

Well, my friend, Dan, and I went out after dinner this evening to see if we couldn’t capture a nice sunset. We headed over to Coronado Island to see what we could find. We found fog—tons of it. By the time we arrived it was pretty gray with little or no light so we started to head back home. On the way back, we noticed that the bridge was looking better and better by the minute so we parked, put our cameras on our tripods and snapped a few photos. Enjoy!

Sunrise… Sunset

I was up in Idyllwild this past weekend. It was a short one-day trip, but I did manage to get a nice photo of the sunset… which reminded me of a past sunrise photo I had captured and never posted. There’s something special about the mountains that can create sunrises and sunsets like these. Enjoy!

Odds and Ends

Here’s a small collection of photos from the past few weeks that I just didn’t get around to posting. There are some birds and flowers from the zoo as well as a few more beach shots from around La Jolla… one of my favorite places to visit. Enjoy!

P.S. I’ve included a photo of Dan, my photo safari buddy, in this gallery. He’s a wonderful photographer so be sure to check out his photos at SanDanDiego.com.

June Gloom

Well, the fog has settled in for the month of June… at least it seems that way. But it’s still a treat to get out to the beach and snap a few photos. Enjoy!

2011 Camp Pendleton Mud Run

Well, yesterday it was surfing dogs and today it’s mud… plenty of mud. This morning we drove up to Camp Pendleton for the annual mud run. Enjoy!

Puppy on a Platter?

I believe this little guy was just learning how to surf. Here, his owner appears to be giving him a pep talk :-)

It’s Good To Be A Dog!

It certainly was great to be a dog today in Imperial Beach. Dan and I headed out early this morning  for the annual event and it was great fun. Even Reuters was there with their camera crew! Here are a few shots from this morning… Enjoy!

P.S. You can find more photos at Dan’s blog, sandandiego.com.

At the End of the Day

Well, the holiday weekend is over and I hope everyone had a great weekend. I thought it was only fitting to capture the last sunset of the holiday along the La Jolla shoreline.
