La Jolla Pelicans
In an earlier post I mentioned that we’re being visited by quite a number of pelicans this year. This should give you an idea… This is just one group on the cliffs at La Jolla Cove.
Back This Morning…
I thought I’d try to capture the morning sun up at the La Jolla Cove this morning. I probably got there a little late for the “perfect” lighting, but it was beautiful this morning on the coast and worth the drive.
La Jolla Caves
Dan and I headed back up to La Jolla this evening. It’s been such a beautiful day we just couldn’t resist. This is a photo of the cliffs and caves in La Jolla. As you can see, there are tons of birds (Greebes) perched above the water.
La Jolla Cove
Back to the Cove! Dan and I headed up to the La Jolla Cove this morning and it didn’t disappoint. This week, the San Diego Tribune reported that there is an unusual number of pelicans this year and I think they all landed at the Cove. Enjoy!
San Diego Skyline
Here are a few photos of the San Diego skyline I captured one evening from Coronado Island. I decided to process them as HDR photos and I think they turned out kind of cool. Enjoy!
10 Seconds
If you stick your camera on a tripod, point it at the ocean and open the shutter for ±10 seconds, this is what you might get. It’s fun to see how the photos turn out when you use a long exposure.
Old Town San Diego
Dan and I decided to visit Old Town last night. We had a little dinner at one of our favorite Mexican places and then tried to get a few photos amongst all the tourists.
Coronado Boat House
I decided to get out for a little bit this evening so I drove over the bridge to Coronado Island. Just across the road from the Hotel Del Coronado is the old boat house that was built in 1887. It’s now a restaurant. It’s an interesting area as the city has built several tile monuments with photos that show the early tent city that used to be “the place to be” in the summer. Gotta appreciate the history
National Geographic
If you didn’t already know, National Geographic magazine is the epitome of photography—at least in my opinion. Currently, the magazine features photos submitted by readers and/or subscribers who enjoy photography. These photos are selected by the NGM editorial staff from photos submitted at Your Shot on their web site. Each day, the photo editor(s) select twelve photos of these photos and feature them in the Daily Dozen on their web site. The photos that are finally printed in the Your Shot section of the magazine are selected from the Daily Dozen.
So… each month (almost) I’ve submitted a photo to National Geographic and crossed my fingers that my photo would be printed in the magazine. Well, my fingers are still crossed and I haven’t had a photo printed yet, but I just got my third photo selected for the Daily Dozen and I could do back flips to think that one of my photos would even be considered—for anything. I’ve got a bottle of champagne in the frig that I will crack open the day I get a photo printed in the magazine, but for now it’s pretty exciting!
I submitted the peacock photo and I’ve attached a screenshot of the NGM web page here. -HEHE!!!!!!

The Usual Suspects…
The usual suspects were in Idyllwild this weekend—daffodils, steller jays, squirrels and carpets of yellow. Despite the late snow this year, we still have plenty of daffodils around the house. The squirrels and jays demanded peanuts (I had to coax one jay out of the house) all weekend long and when I drove down through Garner Valley on Sunday I was pleasantly surprised to find the valley floor covered in Spring flowers.
