                                 The front door is usually open at this stately casona because there’s a family-run legal services office in a downstairs room. The foyer is a waiting area for clients so it is possible to catch a peek through the ornate iron gates into the magnificent courtyard; a rare thing in this town.
This house was originally built in 1791, for a member of one of the richest families in Mexico — the Condessa de San Mateo de Valparaiso — and is presently owned by a prominent San Miguel de Allende family.
